French golfer Antoine Rozner won his first European Tour championship title in the first edition of the Golf in Dubai tournament, which was held on the Fire Course in Jumeirah Golf Estates, with this victory, Rozner became the fastest Frenchman to win a European Tour championship after participating in 24 tournaments only to achieve his first victory.
Rozner started in the final round four strokes behind the leader Andy Sullivan, but his impressive performance throughout the tournament continued on the final day to finish eight under par on the final round, ending the tournament with a total of 25 under par, two strokes ahead of the second place which was shared by five players, including Sullivan.
After his victory, Rozner commented: “It means a lot. It’s been such a strange year, we have been through so much all over the world and to be able to get it done in such nice fashion, eight under, it’s amazing,”
On the other hand, it seemed from the first day that the Englishman Andy Sullivan was the closest to winning, as he was the leader of the tournament from the first day until the last few holes of the tournament, where he lost the lead and the championship to the Frenchman, Sullivan performed fantastically throughout the first three days as he only two bogeys. He was leading by 21 under par at the start of the final round, but his performance was not as expected as he finished the final round with 2 under par to lose the championship.
While awaiting the final results of the South African Open, the field of the final tournament of the European Tour, the DP World Golf Tour Championship, will be held next week on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
