Tyrrell Hutton won the Abu Dhabi HSBC championship on Sunday claiming his first title in the championship and in the Middle East, this is his fourth win in the Rolex Series tying the lead with Jon Rham, Hutton will climb to number sixth in the world after this victory, while McIlroy’s disappointments continued in this tournament failing to win the title after his 12th start.
Hatton performed strongly throughout the four days of the championship concluding his strong championship with a title victory and a margin of four shots, finishing -18, Hutton had little competition in the final round although he started in second place he quickly taken the first place and widened the gap with his rivals to win comfortably.
Jason Scrivener finished second four strokes behind the winner finishing the tournament at -14, he made an excellent final round in which he played magnificently and claimed a round of six shots below par 66.
On the other hand, McIlroy’s disappointments continued in this tournament, as he participated in it twelve times but failed to win, this tournament is now equal to the Masters tournament in the number of participation without a victory at 12. Although he started the last round at the top of the table and boosted it with two birdies on the first three holes, he started making mistakes and continued to commit them until he finished the tournament in third place with a final score of -13.
Tommy Fleetwood had shown some readiness to compete for the title in the third round, but his disappointing performance in the final round saw him finish the tournament in seventh place.
The series of European Tour Championships in the Middle East, specifically in the United Arab Emirates, will continue next week with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
