In this topic we will learn how to make a chip shot, chipping is how to hit the ball from the fairway onto the green making it roll, pitching hitting a lob shot. Chipping is often favored over pitching because the action as well as the path of the ball after the shot is easier to control.
Practicing chipping is essential as it is used often when we miss the green from the fairway, chipping is a reduced swing and it has four points that must be practiced in order to hit a good shot. First the body weight should be on the front leg, second the hands should be positioned in front of the ball, third the wrists should be kept firm to reduce the errors and fourth keep your eye on the ball during the swing.
You can practice either on the driving range, or close to the green. Try all positions and distances to get familiar with the power you need in the swing. The ball placement is also important, a smooth fairway will make the shot easy but if the ball hits a rough, the shot becomes more difficult and you will need more skills to get it out correctly.
