The new season of the European Tour will get underway this week in Abu Dhabi, the season opener Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship played in Abu Dhabi GC from 21 to 24 January 2021 will be the first tournament of the season and the first part of the desert swing played across the Middle east.
This year’s tournament will witness the participation of some of the world’s best golfers, from superstars Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy, to majors winners Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Danny Willett to the European Ryder Cup Captain Pádraig Harrington who confirmed his participation in the Tournament.
The local number one amateur Ahmad Skaik will participate for the second straight time in the event, also the moroccan number one player Ahmed Marjan received a professional invitation to the tournament and will be the second player from the arab countries to participate in the tournament.
The purse of the tournament has increased to 8$ million, the tournament also offers 8000 points in the race to Dubai standing.
