The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, in collaboration with the Arab Golf Federation and in partnership with R&A, is organizing the 42nd edition of the Arab Amateur Golf Championship, which will take place from July 27th to 29th at the Casa Green Golf course. Additionally, it will also host the first edition of the Arab Professional Golf Championship from August 01 to 04 at the same venue.
These two regional events for amateurs and professionals will witness the participation of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Tunisia, and Morocco as the host country.
Majed Al-Sorour, the Secretary-General of the Arab Golf Federation, commented: “The Arab Golf Federation is proud to organize the 42nd edition of the Arab Amateur Golf Championship and the first edition of the Arab Professional Golf Championship in this wonderful and beautiful country. The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation has a long history of hosting Arab Golf Federation championships, and once again, thanks to the initiative of the Moroccan team, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, and with the support of the Arab Golf Federation, Morocco welcomes this championship. The Arab Professional Golf Championship will be a platform to enhance the level of competition among elite Arab players and will open important opportunities for players capable of representing the region on the world stage.”
The first edition of the championship was held in Lebanon in 1975, hosted in Beirut. Morocco has hosted the championship six times in its history, winning 12 individual championship editions and 10 team championship editions.
The amateur championship will feature the best Arab amateur players from each country, with each country represented by four players competing for the team championship and individual titles. It’s worth mentioning that the championship consists of two parts:
Team Championship, where the best three scores count each day.
Individual Championship, where each player competes against all participants in a stroke play format of 54 holes.
