The Players Championship known as THE PLAYERS is the tournament with the highest prize fund of any golf tournament at this time, the purse of the tournament is 15$ million, 154 players will compete this week for the prestigious title. THE PLAYERS is played annually at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
This tournament field consists of the best golfers in the world, this year’s field includes 48 of top 50 players in the world ranking. Although it is not considered a Major, the world class field, prestige and famous host venue makes THE PLAYERS sometimes referred to as the fifth Major.
Top Ranked players will compete this week, including world number one Dustin Johnson, last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational winner Bryson DeChambeau and the defending champion Rory McIlroy in addition to a long list of the best names internationally. Brooks Koepka who won the Waste Management Phoenix Open due to injury.
The prestigious tournament will be played as usual at TPC Sawgrass Stadium course, The challenging 18-hole, par 72 course measures 7245 yards. The Course is famous for it’s stunning layout and the iconic 17th hole.
