Arnold Palmer

Arnold Daniel Palmer, born on September 10, 1929 and died on September 25, 2016 was an American professional golfer, he is regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time. Nicknamed The King, he was one of the most popular golfers of all time. Holder of 7 Majors titles and numerous other PGA tournaments since he started his professional career in 1955 and he retired in 2006.

With his charisma and his humble background made one of the biggest impacts on the game of golf, he changed the perception of golf as an elite pastime sport of the rich to a sport played by middle class and working class, he is also the first superstar of golf and he dramatically transferred the popularity of the sport around the world, specially at the beginning of the sports television age.

Palmer has a total of 95 professional wins, 65 of which came in the PGA tour and 10 in the PGA tour champions. He won the Masters four times, the open two times and the US open one time.

Palmer was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2004 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2009
